Cleansing your face may seem to be one of the least exciting parts of your beauty regime. It’s just a quick wash to clean off the day’s grime, with the real miracle work being done by the serums, oils and creams that we add on afterwards, right?

Truth be told cleansing is possibly the MOST important step in our beauty routine and one that we should all pay a little more attention to.

Cleansing not only removes make-up, sun cream, dirt and impurities from our skin, but it clears a path for what we put onto our skin next. Once the excess oil has been cleared and the dirt lifted from our pores, our skin is ready to absorb the powerful and beneficial ingredients that our skincare products are trying to deliver.

If your skin is looking a little dull, is not as clear as you would like or is prone to breakouts, you may like to try double cleansing, a technique that originated in Japan and Korea.

Just as it sounds, double cleansing involves cleansing your skin twice, first with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based cleanser.

The idea behind this process is that the first cleanse dislodges and removes makeup and dirt, allowing the second cleanse to penetrate deeply into the pores, removing stubborn, pore-clogging and acne-causing impurities that can remain on the skin even after washing your face once.

If you’re not one to remove your make-up before you hop in the shower, double cleansing really is a must.

It’s unlikely that your cleanser will remove all of your make-up, and then go deeper into your pores, leaving them clean and clear with just one wash. Even using the same cleanser twice will have a better effect than just a single wash and will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and clean.

Double cleansing is not necessary for everyone and certainly not in the morning when your skin is makeup-free.

Over cleansing and stripping the skin of its natural oils is not good either, so you do need to find the right balance.
If you have very dry skin make sure you use an effective but gentle, moisturising cleanser.

For a deep, effective cleanse we recommend our two Dianne Caine Australia cleansers, used either on their own or in combination for the ultimate double cleanse.

Our Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser is a rejuvenating formula with soothing Organic Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil and Cocoa Butter. Jojoba naturally contains a balance of Vitamins A, D and E for ultimate skin regeneration. Cocoa Butter, rich in antioxidants, helps to deeply hydrate, soften and soothe, and improve the appearance of the skin. This luxurious cleanser dissolves dirt, make-up and impurities, whilst nourishing the skin.

Our Purifying Cleansing Gel Wash is a highly effective cleanser that suits all skin types, but particularly useful for those with oily or combination skin. It is a clarifying facial wash, formulated with pore-minimising Salicylic Acid, to help soothe, reduce redness and calm the skin, plus organic Cucumber and Passionflower Extracts help to nourish and refresh.
