Every country has a party season! It’s healthy to socialise and have fun with our friends, but when the refined sugary snacks, the carb loaded beer, and high calorie wine is flowing, it really can be hard to stay healthy! Thankfully, there are a few things we can do to lower our intake of unhealthy food, whilst still enjoying ourselves!

EAT A MEAL BEFORE YOU ATTEND A PARTY

If you go to a party hungry, you’re much more likely to pig out on all the unhealthy food that will no doubt be on offer. Before you leave, enjoy a nice, filling meal with plenty of protein and healthy fats to keep you satiated and plenty of vegetables for fiber and phytonutrients.

You are definitely allowed to indulge at the party, life is there to be lived! Though, eating a lovely, nutritious meal before you leave will lower the amount of ‘bad’ food you consume.

PACING YOURSELF WITH ALCOHOL

A lot of people love to let their hair down and enjoy a beverage from time to time. At parties, you are more likely to drink a little too much and cause havoc to your body. Make every second drink you consume a large glass of water and try to drink your alcohol slowly. This will help to keep you hydrated and lower the amount of alcohol you consume.

STAY HEALTHY WITH VITAMIN B

Alcohol drains the body of B vitamins so taking a high-quality B vitamin will help to keep your body balanced and not deficient.

REST! REST! REST!

Just because it’s party season we shouldn’t lose sight of our healthy habits. Most importantly, is getting our eight hours of sleep each night. Sleep is so important to basically every element of our health and wellness. Simply one night of sleep deprivation is enough to knock our hormones out of wack! Take nanna naps, lay flat ten minutes a day, and try to get some zeds!

INSPIRE YOUR HOSTS!

If you’ve been invited to a party and you know there will be nothing healthy on offer, it’s always a great idea to prepare healthy snacks to take with you. That way, you not only have a healthy option for yourself, but you can inspire those around you. Veggie sticks and homemade dips, bliss balls, cauliflower pizza, air popped corn - there are many healthy options out there. Take your pick!
